The difference between a headshot and a portrait.
A headshot says I’m available. A portrait says I’m here. One’s a passport with better lighting, a clean collar, a firm handshake in JPEG form, and there’s no shame in that, because rent is rent and LinkedIn is hungry. But a portrait doesn’t care about your job title. A portrait wants the tired eyes, the crooked smile, your dad’s jaw and the thing you nearly said before you sat down. A headshot asks what you do. A portrait asks who the hell you are, then waits. And waits. And in that wait, when you’ve stopped holding your face up like a shield, there you are: soft, scared, ugly, beautiful, alive. Click. That’s not content. That’s love.
